Blog Journal #7
1) I noticed that teacher's pages on school's websites aren't as detailed and compact with information as I assumed. The only teacher's pages that I've seen are class websites that I have accessed in highschool but not on the actual school's website. When I looked at my previous elementary school's website, the information I found is the teacher's family history, school history, teaching history and interests to help familiarize them with their future students/parents. Also, I actually found a joint first grade teacher's page that had the contact information of every first grade teacher, announcements, resources, special area and videos. link:school page
2) I envision myself using technology often in my classroom because the "new student" who will becoming into kindergarten after the pandemic will be heavily reliant and interested in technology. I want to engage my students and an easy way to capture their attention is through activities that can be found on the computer or smart board. Also, I see myself using technology efficiently when it comes to creating new crafts and ways to teach my lesson plans through teacher websites and blogs. Professionally, I think it will be very helpful to utilize a communication platform through technology to update parents on their child's progress in my class. A specific teacher productivity tool that I will use in my classroom is slack because I really like how much group productivity can happen on this app so I will try to introduce it to my colleagues.
3) My experience using a wiki platform wasn't the best experience ever. I don't like the process of having to request to edit a page and waiting to be accepted because it's time consuming and I wanted to get right to work. Specifically, with the Pb works website, I was really confused with the website and it's layout seeing as it's so many small divisions and different things to click on the site. I dislike that there has to be a edit and view option because I wanted to just click and work immediately, Also, I dislike that you can see the work history on the Pb works site because I may be doing more work for the group that isn't on the site.

Hi Ariel, I also had trouble finding blogs/websites for specific teachers! I did end up finding one, and if you'd like to take a look it is on my blog post. :) I like your interpretation of using technology because it is what the children are used to, I didn't think of it that way at first!
ReplyDeleteHey Ariel! I had trouble finding teachers with content on the schools website because I feel like they just put information like that on a syllabus or on a separate education website like Edmodo. I think you should keep in mind that incorporating technology as young as possible is both a good and bad thing, it helps students understand how to navigate across different platforms yet students can also get addicted. It can be a great learning tool if used properly.
