Blog Journal #5

  1. My experience with twitter is very vague because I never had twitter until enrolling in this class . I think twitter is a extremely enjoyable app and I relate to many posts that my friends send to me from their twitter account. Now that i’m in this class, I really like looking at the twitter posts that the education accounts I follow post. By looking at their tweets, I am getting the first hand perspective into what teachers face everyday and their struggles so it’s nice  to have that inside view or teaching .

  1. The digital divide affects student success in various ways depending on who has access to technology which can be determined by their economic status . Students who have access to technology are positively impacted by the digital aspect because a computer is helpful with guiding students to answer questions they can’t find on their and help them create assignments through word processing forms. On the other hand , this digital privilege can take way from students desire to actually compete their own work without cheating so it may be negative in that way. Students who don’t have access to technology are hindered by the lack of technology . In this present time , it’s pivotal that students have technology because everything is accessed on computers and without it , it’s almost impossible to “keep up” with the educational system thy relies heavily on it. When faced with this in my classroom, I plan on reaching out to the financial committee and principal of my school to find a way to get school computers home to those students or fundraise to fund them.

  1. Two academic software tools that I would like to implement into my classroom are Khan Academy and Google Docs.Khan Academy is essentially an online tutoring tool that explains every aspect of education and academics through guided notes and lectures . I really like Khan Academy because it gives detailed notes and videos that explain math problems or concepts in the notes .There are times , especially in college, where I don’t understand what my professor said during the lecture and Khan Academy fills in that gap for me . Also, Google Docs has been a life saver for me since being in college . Google docs is a word processing platform that allows you to create word documents, collaborate with others and send documents off easily through your Google drive . I like this tool more than word or any other word processing tool because Canvas has a Google drive option for submitting assignments so it makes it much easier to turn things in from any device .
